Few cars evoke the nostalgia of the great days of motoring like the legendary Morgan 4/4 and Roadster V6. It is without doubt the quintessential British sports car, conceived in an altogether more romantic era.

Inveraray Castle is a remarkable and unique piece of architecture incorporating Baroque, Palladian and Gothic.Featuring four imposing French influenced conical spires surmounting the stone castelated towers, this unmistakably Scottish Castle was the first of its size and type to be built (at the time of construction) in an extremely remote part of Scotland.

Preparing for fishing at Port Ellen, Islay

A few miles to the south-west of Port Askaig on the island of Islay lies Loch Finlaggan, a place of great importance in Scottish history, In the loch are three islands, two of which lie close to the north shore. These are Eilean Mor (large island) and Eilean na Comhairle (council isle) which contain fragmentary remains of buildings. Here the installation of the Lords of the Isles took place. The Macdonald Lords of the Isles were descended from Somerled, a 12th century prince, and these lords, the chiefs of Clan Donald, chose Finlaggan as their home and the centre of their lordship, so that Islay is often referred to as the Cradle of Clan Donald

A commanding view of the entire island of Jura, with Kintyre and Arran beyond to the East, Colonsay and Ireland to the West, Mull and Scarba to the North and Islay to the South can be seen from the summits.

Isle of Jura Distillery produces a light malt whisky. The first official distillery on Jura was built in 1810 but there is evidence that illicit distilling took place as far back as 1502. It has been expanded over the years but still occupies the same site, draws its water from the same natural source and remains the only distillery on the island.

Temple Wood Circle, Kilmartin Glen is one of the finest groups of cairns and standing stones in Scotland. There are two circles: the northern circle was built before 3000BC. The outer circle was used for ceremonial purposes between 1500 and 2000 years ago

The ruined remains of Dunstaffnage Castle sit near the village of Dunbeg, Oban, Argyll and Bute, the oldest parts of which date from the 13th century. Built by the MacDougalls, the castle was taken by Robert the Bruce in 1309 and he passed it to Campbell ownership. For the next 200 years it had various owners until returning to the Campbells who retained ownership until 1958 when it was passed to Historic Scotland. The only remaining inhabitated part of the castle is the gate-house which was built in the 15th century and was restored in 1903.
