At this time planning is in early stages but current thoughts for the itinerary are:
- Arrive Glasgow airport where the group will be collected.
- Transfer to Dunkeld (approx. two hours drive) for three days/two nights. http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/dunkeld/dunkeld/index.html in scenic Perthshire http://www.perthshire.co.uk This location is ideal, not only does this small town sit on the bank of the mighty river Tay but it is superbly situated for accessing mainland Scotland within a day. This allows maximum flexibility. Also, Dunkeld offers a wide range of lodgings to chose from.
- Next we move to the magical scenery of the Isle of Skye http://www.skye.co.uk/ off the West Coast of Scotland. Here Catswhiskers has connections with both local artists and a photographer http://www.skye-images.co.uk/ Aim to spend two days on the island.
- Final day yet to be determined.

DAY TOUR OF SCOTLAND
DAY TOUR APRIL 8TH
Falls of Dochart at Killin. This is a very popular spot with visitors able to scramble over the rocks. Water level seems very low for the time of year-possibly due to absence of snow melt.
Here is the ancient yew tree at Fortingall. The village is well worth a village in its own right-for the architecture. The yew is, reputedly, the oldest tree in Europe. Again, very popular with visitors.
Scenic view of Glen Quaich, Perthshire. Well worth a visit-if you like narrow, single -track roads!
An other view from Glen Quaich. We were fortunate in that we benefited from a sunny day.
Scenic view of River Almond at Newton Bridge, Perthshire. This is close to a Clearance Village which we visited via short walk.
This is part of a huge Roman fort site at Ardoch (Braco). Well worth a visit. Unfortunately, rabbits are progressively destroying the huge earthworks built by Roman legionaries some 2000 years ago.
This is the famous Dupplin Cross at St.Serf's Church, Dunning. It dates to the 9th century . The main figure possibly depicts King Constantine (AD 789-820) on horseback supported by ranks of foot soldiers. There is supporting ornamentation on all four sides comprising spiral work, square and diagonal key patterns and interlaced work, surrounding figures of men, animals and birds. This Red Sandstone monument is in excellent condition considering its antiquity and the fact that it has stood in open ground exposed to the elements at nearby Forteviot for about 1200 years.
Here is Castle Campbell. This is a small but fascinating castle which has experienced military action in the past. Connected with the Campbells. Superb views from the top -when the weather is right.
Airth Castle Hotel. Now a hotel but with a history dating back to the 1300s.
Romantic ruins adjacent to Airth Castle
Overall, a good tour taking about 9 hours.

Saturday, April 07, 2007
Here are some pics taken during a day tour out of Glasgow for a family of five.
First is image looking towards the burn/water supply at Glengoyne Distillery.
This is a view from Stirling Castle looking south.
Here is a pic some Scottish architecture-ceiling of Great Hall at Stirling Castle
Here is a replica of a medieval table in the Great Hall at Stirling Castle
Another view of the ceiling at Stirling Castle
A view from Stirling Castle looking towards the Wallace Monument and the Ochills
Entrance to Stirling Castle-exceptionally sunny for time of year.
We had lunch at Lake of Menteith Hotel. This is a view of the boat collecting passengers for Inchmaholm Priory. Well worth a visit if you have the time.
View from boat trip on Loch Katrine. This shows remains of a Clearance Village.
Another view from the boat trip-not bad!
Here is a view of the steamship Sir Walter Scott. It was undergoing trials on the day and not taking passengers.
Happy family shot at Glengoyne Distillery. The Distillery guide was excellent.
Here is the affable Distillery guide. She likes her 'wee dram'!
