Alexander Halliday Ancestry Tour Glasgow

Friday, February 29, 2008

This evening I am presenting the image of a grave-marker from Glasgow's Eastwood Old Cemetery.

It was erected by Mary Cowan in memory of :

  • Husband Alexander Halliday who died May 11 1925 age 69
  • Three children who died in infancy: Willie, George and Jeanie.
Mary died Feb 6th 1931 age 75.

Halliday is a Scots version of the English name Holiday and means birth/baptism on a holy day.
